 Fabulous Fox! Water Trail Organizers Seek Public Input
Participate in a public open house to learn about and comment on the The Fabulous Fox! Water Trail
Geneva, Illinois The Core Development Team (CDT) of the Fabulous Fox! River Water Trail will be hosting several workshops in June sharing the results of their efforts with volunteers who have paddled the river collecting data. The CDT will display maps of the trail identifying the access sites and amenities, and information about journeys on segments of the river. The CDT will also be seeking input from paddlers and others familiar with the river to review the information collected and share additional information that would help paddlers enjoy safe and pleasant experiences. The CDT will then do a gap analysis and provide recommendations to public landowners including county and municipal governments.
Three Illinois workshops have been scheduled with plans to hold a fourth one in an additional community along the river. Currently scheduled workshops: Monday, June 17 - Geneva at Kane County Government Center, 719 S. Batavia Ave. Monday, June 24 - Yorkville at Hampton Inn, 310 E. Countryside Parkway Friday, June 28 - McHenry at City of McHenry Rec Center, 333 S. Green St.
The Fabulous Fox! River Water Trail has been in development for several years with organizers from two states working with the National Park Service, SE Wisconsin Regional Planning Commission and the Fox River Ecosystem Partnership

Cybersecurity Event
Kane County to host cybersecurity event for manufacturing leaders
Kane County will host a June 19 cybersecurity seminar targeted to manufacturers who are or want to be defense contractors and subcontractors.
The event - cosponsored by Kane County and numerous partners, including Chicago Metro Metal Consortium, Chicago Regional Growth Corporation, Illinois Defense Network, IMEC and others - will help companies identify cybersecurity risks as well as how to address and resolve potential security threats aimed at your products, customers and employees.

Annual Recycling Extravaganza
Kane County hosts Annual Recycling Extravaganza July 13th
Kane County is once again hosting an annual recycling extravaganza event on Saturday, July 13th, 2019 from 8am - 12 noon, at 540 S Randall Road in St. Charles. This event DOES NOT include shredding. Please see the EVENT POSTER for more details, and please read below information to make the most of your event experience!
Tips for optimal event experience
- Please arrive between the hours of 8am and 11:45am for optimal service. Please do not arrive early, as it creates a pile up before we even begin. Thank you.
- It is recommended that you approach on the North-bound side of Randall, coming up from 38 towards 64, so that you can easily turn right, into the event at the Kane County Traffic Court building. If you approach on the South-bound side of Randall, you may have difficulty turning left into the event site across the oncoming traffic, and the lineup creates a traffic flow problem on Randall.
- Please check out this MAP of the event to see the order in which things will be unloaded so that you can pack your car accordingly. This helps us to serve you more efficiently.
- Stop into Colonial Café for brunch after recycling!
There will be NO Confidential Document Shredding at this event. See August 10 & September 14.
Costs
- TVs and Computer Monitors have a recycling fee paid directly to the non-profit recycler ($25 for screens under 21" - measured diagonally across the screen, or $35 for screens 21" and over), payable by the resident with cash or card.
- Paint has a recycling fee per container, payable by the resident with cash or check (Latex is $3/gal, oil is $8/gal).

solar land use laws that permit solar development while protecting productive farmland. Examples of Smart Solar Siting laws from municipalities in New York as well as tools municipalities can use to support farm operations and keep land in agriculture will be shared.

Streetmix Civic Engagement Tool
Civic engagement tool allows communities to
visualize street design
Streetmix allows users to create a hypothetical street, with options for driving lanes, bus lanes, bike lanes, scooter lanes, streetcars, sidewalks, parking, trees, parklets and benches, wayfinding signs and much more. What's more, they can do it without any technical knowledge and from the comfort of home, which means that residents can make their voices heard from anywhere. Creator and urban designer, Lou Huang, was inspired to develop the platform after attending a community meeting about redesigning a San Francisco street. The idea behind the web tool is to better engage residents in the planning process, giving neighbors and planning officials alike a way to easily generate street design concepts. Cities across the country, including Reno Nevada, have used the platform to solicit street design concepts from residents as part of their community planning processes.
